The Professional Grounds Management Society (PGMS) recognized Bonita Bay Community Association in Bonita Springs, Fla. with a GRAND AWARD in the Society’s 2016 Green Star Awards competition.
The Professional Grounds Management Society (PGMS) continues to recognize Bonita Bay Community Association as a national leader in the landscape industry and has honored the Association with the 2016 Green Star Grand Award for Multiple Site Management.
Bill Lynn, Director of Community Maintenance Operations, accepted the award on behalf of Bonita Bay Community Association at the Society’s 2016 Awards Dinner held in conjunction with the School of Grounds Management & GIE+EXPO in Louisville, Ky., on Oct. 21.
The Green Star Awards Program brings national recognition to grounds maintenance with a high degree of excellence, complimenting other national landscape awards programs that recognize outstanding landscape design and construction. • Turf: “Overall turf looks great, nicely edged and overall appearance is rich and green.”
• Landscape: “Looks fantastic, and great photos of seasonal displays. Trees are well maintained. Great seasonal color on site! Impressive array of types of maintenance that is performed on site – takes a crew of highly skilled individuals to make this place look great!”
• Challenges: “Storm damage, erosion, and invasive species. Great safety program in place, and number of accident-free days is impressive!”
• Sustainable Practices: “Limited fertilizer is used to not contaminate ground water, irrigation through waste water, storm water ponds, LED lighting, propane mowers, IPM program, and natural area preservation.”
